To go with my posts on US government pay and expereince for archaeologists here is a break down, by state, of where those jobs are:

As would be expected the majority of jobs are located in the western half of the US. Also, the DC area has quite a few but the main offices of all of the departments are there so it is not surprising.

NOTE- this is only for archaeology jobs GS 5 or above. Though I would be willing to bet most of the seasonal field tech jobs are located where most of the permanent jobs are.
