This post gives a more detailed break down of the supervisor position (commercial archaeology UK) in the Jobs in British Archaeology series.
You can see the methodology here on how these numbers were collected from job postings. In total 16 job postings are represented here. As mentioned in methodology postings that don’t specify how many positions are available are counted as one. This means while 16 advertisements are used as the dataset the actual hiring was much higher.
Lowest pay offered–
Highest pay offered–
Here is a distribution of starting pay (lowest pay)to give you a better idea of what pay is like for this position-
A much tighter range of possible starting pay for this position than with excavators.
“But I have experience so starting pay does not help me figure out what I should be getting?”
Well looking at the range of pay for all positions on average the difference from lowest offered pay and the highest offered pay is 11.79%. Assuming that the majority of Supervisors will make between £17,000-19,000 starting off you can assume that if you have lots of experience you should be getting between £18,850- 21,000. There is a range from 6% to 21% so you could be making a little more to a little less. These are all averages and you need to take that into account.
